Southern Ring Road project
The southern ring road is about 12 kilometres long and passes through the middle of the city of Groningen, more or less between the districts of Hoogkerk and Euvelgunne. This road is an important route for traffic travelling to and from the city as well as for through traffic. From 2017 to 2021, the southern ring road will be undergoing a drastic redevelopment.
The Southern Ring Road project will ensure that the city and region remain accessible in the future while also providing for a better living environment and safer roads. This is a major project that comprises a range of works including new junctions, additional traffic lanes and various overpasses. Various changes will also be made to the traffic situation in the adjacent neighbourhoods.
