Meerstad P+R car park
Meerstad P+R car park will have a capacity of 400 cars. This car park is located on Driebondsweg, parallel to Eemskanaal. The P+R car park opened on 14 October, initially with space for 80 cars on crushed rubble surfacing. The car park will get permanent surfacing in several phases.
This car park has a fast bus connection to UMCG hospital, the city centre and Central Station. Six buses depart for the city every hour. This new P+R car park is a good alternative for parking in the city centre for visitors coming from the direction of Hoogezand and Delfzijl.
The car park is to have digital information boards with up-to-date information on departure times, a covered waiting area, a bicycle shelter and WCs. Variable message signs along the A7 motorway from Hoogezand will inform motorists whether there are parking spaces available in the car park.
The first phase of the permanent surfacing is expected to be completed in late November. The rest of the car park will be paved in phases, after which the finishing touches will be provided. A covered waiting area with WC is expected to be completed by mid-2018.
